You can’t “get” more traffic

by Phil Gerbyshak on February 9, 2006

Over at Seth Godin‘s blog today, he poses the question "How can I get more traffic?" His answer is simple: You can’t "get" more traffic. You have to earn it.  I completely agree with Seth. I was just looking at my stats for the last 4 days, and I noticed I am over 700 hits for the last 4 days alone, and over 1000 for the past 7 days. I am honestly amazed and humbled, and yet when I think honestly about my site in the last week, I realize I really have worked hard to earn more traffic. Not to toot my own horn, but in the past week I have been fortunate enough to:

  • Re-do my blog design to make it cleaner and easier to read (and today, thanks to a comment by one my of my readers, I’ve updated the font to make it even more crisper and cleaner)
  • Conducted and posted an interview with Hanna Cooper, a brilliant coach
  • Conducted and posted an interview with Kevin Eikenberry, a fantastic writer and learner
  • …and posted several other quality links and articles.

To continue to earn additional traffic, I am working on more interviews with interesting, unique people, some joint podcasts with some very cool friends, and I will continue to improve the quality of my articles and links. I hope you agree I’ve earned more traffic, and I also hope you’ll keep coming back to Make It Great! If there’s anything else you want to see, please send me an e-mail or leave me a comment.

Make it a great day!
Phil
