This week I was in Canada to present to two HDI chapters, Trillium HDI (in Toronto) and Ottawa HDI (obviously in Ottawa). It was my first trip to Canada, and I must say, the folks I encountered all throughout the country were wonderfully welcoming and amazingly approachable. The cab driver even took me through a drive-through so I could get some food on my way to the hotel in Ottawa because it was VERY late and nothing was open close to my hotel. Awesome!
I promised all the great folks I met that I would upload my presentation to Slideshare, and I thought I’d share it with you as well.
If you can’t see it above, or if you get my articles via e-mail, you can Recession Proof Your Life via Slideshare.
Questions for you:
- Do you like the presentation?
- Do you see things that could make it better?
- Anything else you’d like to share?
I’d love your feedback. Please share it below in the comments.

Hi Phil .. your character comes through .. to me it does here in the UK! Lots of bounce and bubbly .. and I’m sure the actual presentation was huge fun with lots of learning points.
The presentation seems to be extremely well put together .. simple, clear and to the point – PLAN .. I loved the work part of network .. net – could be catch your fish too .. find your audience.
Re the pond .. absolutely I can see what you’re saying .. that’s why I really like working with Giovanna Garcia of Imperfect Action .. I love her approach to life, her common sense and her real love of people ..
Your networking questions are very pertinent and immediately hit home ..
- what ponds need the value you can share? – who needs your help today? – who knows what you can do and sings your praises?
Uniqueness too .. is something, I’ve learnt, is very relevant ..

Phil – I loved how with your final point on Execution, you turned the PLAN into a PLANE! I’m ready to take off!

Thanks George! I’m a simple guy, so putting words behind my ideas really helps me remember them and drive them home.
Take off – I like that. Thanks for the suggestion. VERY helpful!

Imperfect action indeed. I’m going to work Gio into my presentation. Great idea!

Phil…. Very smart presentation. I especially like the part about networking — getting outside the same old pond. That’s tough for people.
I’m wondering, do you have action steps that people are taking right there? Meet 3 people around them? Write out 3 steps they might take before the end of the week (and have a buddy to answer to)? What I find on these things is that folks get inspired (and they definitely would here) and then drop the ball when “life” gets back in the way, usually in about 15 minutes….
I’m sure you’ve thought of all that, but thought I’d just drop it in here.
Peace
K

Kevin – That’s great feedback! I do that in my book, but for some reason, I didn’t make the action steps crystal clear in the presentation. I’ll definitely include them in my next presentation and share the deck again. Thank you for sharing the feedback!
